Interactive group field trips for Beginner Farmer Training Program participants
We know that the best place to learn how to farm is in the field. For this reason, the Level 1 program has been designed to augment and bring to life the concepts that trainees learn in their online classroom work. These half- to full-day trips are designed to introduce Level 1 trainees to diverse farm operations and practical beginner farmer skills. Additionally, they serve as networking and community building opportunities for Level 1 trainees. Trainees can expect to engage in projects such as:
- Seed-starting and transplanting
- Building structures for season extension
- Bed preparation and planting
- Large harvests
- Livestock care and tending
These days will occur throughout the region and the schedule will be set by early 2023.
