Soil Health to Go! with Olabisi Yamu

June 8 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm EDT

On Wednesday, June 8th, the Million Acre Challenge hosts guest farmer Olabisi Yamu of Heritage Farm for their Soil Health to Go lunch and learn. Olabisi joins to help boost awareness of Immigrant Heritage Month and as the first prize winner of our early 2022 Count Your Acres Sweepstakes.

Originally from western Nigeria, Olabisi grows African vegetables such as amaranth, jute, callaloo, and waterleaf on a quarter of an acre in Bowie, Maryland. She uses regenerative practices learned in Nigeria to recycle green wastes and bring nutrients back to the soil. She has used a community donation model to distribute her produce for free to those in her neighborhood and church. This year she plans to add some farmers market sales to the mix.

Olabisi, who is a Community Support Worker, is a Level 2 participant in the Future Harvest Beginning Farmer Training Program. We look forward to learning more from her and hope you can join us for this free, educational half-hour.
