Karl Blankenship, Bay Journal editor-at-large, joins Soil Health to Go! to discuss two recently published articles which look at ongoing challenges in meeting Chesapeake Bay clean-up goals in addition to highlighting the results of a major, new, scientific report: Achieving Water Quality Goals in the Chesapeake Bay: A Comprehensive Evaluation of System Response (CESR) .

With a balanced review of the consequences our target nutrient reduction goals would have on farms and farmland across the region, Karl’s articles create the backdrop for a nuanced conversation about what we know to date, and what we might want to consider for the future.

In this 50-minute lunch & learn, Karl provides viewers with the opportunity to visit or revisit similar topics and to explore relevant follow-on questions.

Karl is the founding editor of both the Bay Journal and Bay Journal Media. He has won many awards and recognition for his work, including the 2001 Excellence in Journalism Award from the Renewable Natural Resources Foundation. In 2006, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Before the Bay Journal, he was a reporter at the Harrisburg (PA) Patriot-News, and the Saginaw (MI) News. He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in journalism.
