Herbal Farm Tours
July 11

July 11th one tour at each location
10am – 11:30am Tooth of the Lion Farm with Katelyn in Orwigsburg, Pa .They grow herbs on 6 acres primarily for drying and processing into teas and bulk herbs. They also have an apothecary on site and offer a line of elixirs and tonics made from fresh extracts. They will give a little farm tour and can share a bit about their systems and equipment for growing at this scale, post harvest processing (for dry or fresh herbs), and a little taste test in their kitchen at the end. Picnic lunch can be had at the farm.
It’s about an hour and a half drive between the farms. We’ve buffered time for the morning to run a little long and for folks to get lunch and make the drive before the next tour.
2:30 – 4pm Barefoot Botanicals with Linda and Eric in Doylestown, PA. They grow certified organic herbs on about 5-6 acres any given year and lease about 18 acres total (wetland + woods + fields). They offer you-pick herbs monthly, and you-pick hemp each season. They planted over 4 acres of native plants to create a wildlife corridor which includes a warm season grass meadow established without roundup. They have a drying and processing facility built with shipping containers that is PA department of ag certified and they are working on FDA GMP compliance.
