Culpepper Farm Tour

September 17 @ 8:00 am - September 18 @ 5:00 pm EDT

If you live in or near the Northern Piedmont, don’t miss the Culpepper Farm Tour this weekend, Saturday, September 17-18 from 10am to 5pm. One stop along the tour is the Carver Center! See more information below.

Rapidan River Master Gardeners Association will conduct tours of their demonstration garden. This includes intensive production systems: trellises for climbing crops, raised beds, keyhole garden for handicap access, hügelkultur and high tunnel production. America’s favorite selections demo planting for ornamental education. The Rapidan River Master Gardeners Association will be hosting their annual plant sale event during the Farm Tour both Saturday and Sunday.

Minority Veteran Farmers of the Piedmont (MVFP) offers experimental learning opportunities for veterans, small farmers, socially disadvantaged, and minority farmers. In partnership with Virginia State University, MVFP will host a mobile agricultural educational laboratory, an interactive tool showcasing the latest innovations in agriculture. View MVFPs homage to George Washington Carver with recently planted sweet potatoes, cotton, and peanut plants. Visit their website at to learn about workshops, business resources, training events, farming tips, recipes, and youth learning.

The Carver 4-County Museum located in the original library of the former George Washington Carver Regional High School documents, celebrates, and shares the educational, social, cultural, and military history and accomplishments of students, faculty and administrators of the Carver school, the only institution of secondary education serving minority children in the four-county region from 1948–1968. Three exhibits and an additional special Farm Tour display will be available for viewing. Visit them at
