Implement daily priorities and policies as determined by farm owner and farm manager. Lead and perform field work, including planting, cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, post-harvest handling of crops; assist with mushroom production, equipment maintenance, repair and requisition, greenhouse and high tunnel maintenance and supervision and property landscaping; Identify crop selection including crops specific to Southeast Asia.
Represent farm at weekly farmers markets or CSA pickup site; ensure delivery of produce to wholesale customers and individuals; manage produce allocation among market, wholesale and CSA; contribute to newsletter, website, social media presence and marketing materials. Potential to participate in budgeting, crop rotation planning, crop/variety selection, capital project planning exists. Ensure work is documented; sales are recorded and organic certification requirements are met. One opportunity to receive a pay raise exist during the course of the season as well as opportunity to receive end of the year bonus. Start date- ASAP.
Farm crew position could become year round position. We are ultimately looking to train someone to become a year round assistant farm manager.
Requirements:
Initiative and focus on learning how to farm mixed vegetables.
Driver’s license
Ability to work long hours in the heat and cold doing strenuous labor outside
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Preferred
Six months of experience farming or horticultural experience with the application of sustainable agriculture principles and organic farming
Experience working with at risk youth
Construction, electrical, social media and website development skills
Bachelor or Associate degree in any field
Compensation
Varies based on experience, free produce and access to professional development opportunities. Housing and health insurance is not available at this time.

Summer Interns:
Most of our summer interns are college students who begin in the spring and finish the season by mid to late August. We will work with your university to ensure that you receive credit for the internship if possible. No previous farming experience is required, but a strong desire to learn is obligatory. Interns receive free professional development opportunities in the form of farm visits and on the job tutorials. We cannot provide housing for our summer interns.
Summer Interns work side by side with the Farm Manager and Apprentices in marketing, production and to a lesser degree administration.
