Sustainable Agriculture Training for Military Veterans

This summer, the National Center for Appropriate Technology has two training opportunities for military veterans interested in starting sustainable farms. Our Armed to Farm program provides five-day educational events that include an engaging blend of farm tours, hands-on activities, and interactive classroom instruction. The event is free for those chosen to attend; lodging, transportation to local farms, and most meals will be provided. Please see below for details about each of the upcoming trainings or visit armedtofarm.org/apply.

NCAT is partnering with the Virginia Association for Biological Farming to host an Armed to Farm training in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

This training is for veterans in the Mid-Atlantic region, with priority given to Virginia residents. The number of participants will be limited. One spouse or farm partner is welcome to attend with a veteran but must submit a separate application.

Armed to Farm will take place August 12 – August 16. The application is available HERE and is due by July 12. Applicants will be notified by July 19 whether or not they were selected to attend the training.

Please contact Eric Fuchs-Stengel at ericf@ncat.org with questions about the Virginia event.

These events are supported by USDA NIFA’s AgVets program.
