Red Wiggler is hiring 2024 Apprentices!

Red Wiggler Community Farm Apprenticeship Program, a multi-year Care Farming and Leadership Development Program

This program is for you if:
• You’re ready to work side-by-side in the fields with team members of all abilities, learning the details of organic vegetable production

Level 1 Apprenticeship overview:
No prior farm experience or knowledge is necessary! We just ask for a desire to learn, work, and develop leadership skills outdoors in an inclusive community while maintaining a positive and proactive attitude. Level 1 Apprentices have the possibility of advancing to a Level 2 Apprenticeship with additional leadership and educational opportunities.

Level 2 Apprenticeship overview:
The Level 2 Apprenticeship is designed for those with 1-2 farming seasons under their belt, and/or for a returning Level 1 Apprentice .
Level 2 Apprentices have additional opportunities to dive deeper into a certain area of focus – think irrigation, Care Farming, CSA/Market management, or farm education . Level 2 Apprentices are also given additional leadership responsibilities.

We Offer:
• $15-$16/hour based on experience
• Paid holidays and earned sick leave
• A weekly share of our certified organic vegetables!
• Seminars and training onsite; occasional offsite farm tours

We Ask For:
• Minimum of 10 weeks scheduled in full weeks between April and November
• 30-40 hours/week, Monday-Friday
• Background Check
• Driver’s License (Level 2 only)

Red Wiggler Community Farm (a recognized 501c3 non-profit) is located in Montgomery County, Maryland. Founded in 1996, Red Wiggler is a sustainable farm where people with and without developmental disabilities come together to work, learn and grow healthy food. On our 12-acre campus, Red Wiggler’s participants cultivate vegetables on seven acres and sell or donate this produce to a diverse population across Montgomery County.
