Farm Description
At Longview Farm, we raise grass-fed Angus/Wagyu beef using regenerative practices. Our cattle are moved to fresh pasture daily thanks to innovative virtual cow collars, which keeps them healthy and fertilizes the land naturally. Our pigs rotate through the woods every two weeks to prevent parasites, and our chickens, housed in mobile “chicken tractors,” graze fresh pasture daily, spreading manure and controlling pests. We’re dedicated to harnessing solar energy to power our farm and consistently build healthy soil.
Position Details
Hours: 20 hours – 30 hours a week from July – December 2025. (Winter break for Feb & Jan). Starting again in March 2026 for March – December.
Pay: $20 / hr.
Duties:
- Cows: Move daily to fresh pasture, check water, and replenish free-choice minerals.
- Chickens: Move their heavy “chicken tractors” daily, feed, collect eggs, and check water.
- Pigs: Move twice a month, which includes setting up the next paddock’s fencing. Daily checks on feed and water are also essential. Expect to unload 50 lb feed bags monthly.
- Garden: Tend to the small vegetable garden by weeding, mulching, and watering as needed.
- Maintenance: Handle general farm repairs like mending water pipes and fences when they break.
- Other: This covers all the usual, ongoing farm work.
If you’re looking for extra hours, there’s always landscaping around the house.
Please note that we specifically need August and September, so students returning to college schedules don’t work.
