Job Opening: Operations Manager, Community FarmShare

Community FarmShare is looking to hire a part-time Operations Manager who will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization’s new local farm produce aggregation hub in Montgomery County.

Community FarmShare is a young, dynamic, local food systems nonprofit in Montgomery County, MD. Our mission is to reduce food and nutrition insecurity and support healthier communities by providing access to culturally valued fresh produce sourced from our local farms. By carrying out our mission, we promote healthy food access, nutritious eating, reduce the stress of food insecurity, as well as promote and support local small scale fruit and vegetable growers to help develop an environmentally conscious sustainable food system. Going forward, Community FarmShare will focus on a Food is Medicine approach to addressing food insecurity (by providing weekly fresh produce bags to residents who have been diagnosed with (or at risk of) a diet related chronic disease), supplemented by nutrition education resources.

The Operations Manager will help create aggregation and distribution processes and systems, supervise incoming produce orders, manage the receiving, storing of bulk produce and packing of bags, and manage the distribution process with the support of volunteers. The job involves coordinating and communicating with farm partners, partner organizations and managing volunteers.
Community FarmShare is looking for a passionate team member who is a change-maker with regard to healthy food access and strengthening local food systems. More details here: https://www.communityfarmshare.org/employment-opportunities

Community FarmShare is also seeking a volunteer Community Nutrition Liaison. The Community Nutrition Liaison position is a new volunteer opening with Community FarmShare. As we expand our Food Is Medicine programming with additional community clinics and school programs, we are looking for a volunteer to help support this expansion and further develop the nutrition education support aspects of the program, such as healthy seasonal farm produce recipe booklets, developing a nutrition resources landing page on our website and other healthy food access support for our Food Is Medicine participants. More details here.
