Two Boots Farm is looking for a Production Manager to join us full time for the 2023 season. The Production Manager will work alongside the Farm Manager and owner and engage in all aspects of day-to-day work in running the farm. Our season runs early April – mid November. The ideal candidate will be able to start working with us part time for the rest of the 2022 season (until mid-Dec.) to begin training for a full time position in 2023. Please apply by November 7th.
Two Boots Farm is a small, intensive farm raising cut flowers and specialty produce in Carroll County, Maryland. We are a woman-owned farm. 2023 marks our ninth season in production. Our goods are sold at Baltimore City farmers’ markets, to florists, and restaurants. We also design with our flowers for weddings and events. We use intensive farming techniques on 1.5 acres, and implement no-till practices. We also grow shiitake mushrooms and have a pawpaw orchard.
The production manager will oversee and implement all aspects of production including:
coordination and communication – with part time employees, The Farm Manager and Owner
planting- greenhouse management, direct seeding, transplanting, bed prep
growing- weeding, trellising, pest and disease management, irrigation
harvesting- carrying out weekly harvest schedules
marketing- assisting with farmers market sales and deliveries. We have one Sunday farmers market and would require working at the market at least once a month.
design – weekly bouquet making and help with wedding design.
Ideal background and skills include:
2+ years of organic farming experience
excellent communication skills
ability to work well both alone and as a team
a capable problem solver
Excellent work ethic and positive attitude
pays close attention to detail while working efficiently
physical stamina and the ability to work in all kinds of weather
willingness to commit to the farm for the full year, ideally more
Salary and benefits:
$16/hour for 40 hours a week M-F, April – December
Paid time off: 40 hours
End of season bonus which historically has been between $300-500.
