Farmer Survey: Have You Worked on a Maryland Farm? – University of Maryland

The University of Maryland and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore are currently working under a USDA-NIFA FSOP grant to alleviate challenges farmers are experiencing in giving their workers food safety training.  As a part of this work, we have created a survey for farm owners, supervisors, and workers to evaluate current worker training attitudes, materials used, and barriers to food safety practice adoption. We will use this information to inform the materials we create to support food safety worker training in Maryland.

This is a 10 minute survey running through March 2022 that will not collect identifiable information from respondents. Respondents who choose to complete the survey will be entered into a pool to receive one of 100 $10 gift card to Lowes.  I’m attaching the current resources we have for the survey; a long form invitation with consent procedures as well as a shareable Tiff.  We do ask that those who take the survey:

  1. worked on a farm in Maryland in 2021 that grew fruits or vegetables;
  2. identify either as an owner, supervisor, worker Full Time, Part Time (or seasonal), or as a volunteer;
  3. are 18 years or older; and
  4. read English.
