Farm Crew Members Needed

Calvert’s Gift Farm is seeking farm crew members for the 2021 season. Join our team and learn all facets of operating a small, profitable, certified organic fruit and vegetable farm. From crop planning to planting to harvest to sales, this position will allow you to experience it all. In addition to working with the farm crew, you will also work with our team at Chesapeake Farm to Table. Learn how the small farmer fits into the local food system through our cooperatively managed food hub. Your time with Calvert’s Gift Farm will include planting, cultivating, harvesting, washing and packing produce. Joining the farmer’s market sales team is also an option. Your time with CF2T will involve working with other small farms to ensure quality and efficient distribution of local products throughout the Baltimore region.

30-40 hours per week, April through November. Part time option from November through April. Starting salary $15/hour.

Skills:
-must have a valid driver’s license
-must have the ability to lift 50#
-have an interest in learning about small scale agriculture from the ground up
-prior experience unnecessary, we’ll teach you!

Calvert’s Gift farm is a small certified organic vegetable farm located in Sparks, Maryland. Established in 1995 by Jack and Beckie Gurley, the farm grows over 60 varieties of crops and sells in a diversity of markets, including an on farm CSA, farmer’s markets and through Chesapeake Farm to Table. We believe the small farm is an integral part of the food system and strive every day to produce high quality food for our customers. Chesapeake Farm to Table was established to work cooperatively with farmers to develop a local marketplace and to ensure the viability of the small farm and the regional food supply.
