Clark’s Elioak Farm is hiring for the 2023 season! We are looking to fill four different positions. Our vegetable operation includes 2 acres of field gardens, permanent beds, and a high tunnel. We grow for our on-farm market, CSA, and a local farmer’s market. 1. Assistant Garden Manger- seasonal, full-time. April through October. Potential more work in the winter and possible housing for the right person. Prior garden experience preferred. Looking for one person who will be working with our garden manager to plan and implement all garden tasks, manage small groups of employees, and help make sure the garden is running efficiently and productively. Attention to detail is essential. Highly motivated. Tasks include, but are not limited to seeding, bed prep, field prep, weeding, transplanting, irrigation set up and maintenance , trellising, trimming, push mowing, weed whacking, harvesting, packing produce, packing orders, organizing orders, etc. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
2. Garden Team Crew- seasonal, part time. June through September. Looking for 2 to 3 people to work 3 to 4 days each. No experience necessary, but preferred. We are looking for people with a good work ethic and time management skills, who is organized and able to work alone or with others. Tasks include, but are not limited to the same list above. Instruction will be provided as necessary.
3. Farmer’s Market- seasonal and very part time. We are looking for someone to take over a Saturday market for the farm that runs Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM, from May through November. Must be outgoing, friendly, and responsible. Valid driver’s license. We are open to having this be someone who is already one of our crew members or someone who doesn’t work in the garden. This person would be fully responsible for attending the market each week. This includes packing up the produce, driving it to market, setting up, selling vegetables, packing up, driving back to the farm, and unpacking. If this person already works in the garden, they will participate in harvesting for the market, if they do not already work in the garden they will need to communicate with our garden manager to plan a list for the harvest for the market each week.
4. Produce Stand Cashier- seasonal, part time. We are looking for 3 to 4 people to fill shifts seven days a week from July 1 through Labor Day Monday. A full day shift is from 9:30 AM to 6 PM. Full day shifts are preferred, but part day shifts will be an option as well. On-farm market cashier includes interacting with customers and answering questions about produce, ringing up sales on our POS system, stocking shelves, going over the produce to make sure it is not damaged and the displays look good, and sweeping/tidying to make sure the stand is always clean and organized. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be on your feet all day. We are also happy for this to be someone who is also working in the garden crew.
