It was my uncle’s farm, and great-great-grandfather’s before that; my sister and I have inherited it. The whole farm is in conservation easement, and we’re pursuing DNR protection for 67 acres old-growth woods, leaving 200 acres for pasture +/or crops. Though we’ve had numerous prospective buyers, none have had organic, regenerative, or integrative agricultural background, and none were open to such practice.
This is highly valued land due to its rare features and specific location in historic Sharpsburg (site of Antietam Battle). We will negotiate a price that works for the buyer who seems best suited. Ideally (idealistically!) we would find a landless young farmer. Please contact us even if you’re not young… We want to hear anyone’s serious interest and proposal.
