An 8 day, 72-hour short course for Certification in Permaculture Design sponsored by Regenerative Earth Design, LLC and the Oak Spring Garden Foundation. The course will be led by Danielle Wyman Castellano at the Oak Spring Garden Foundation, Upperville, Virginia.

Topics will include: an overview of our current food system, design principles and practices, climate, topography (how to read the landscape), soil, plants, farming techniques, water, sun (microclimates), wind, infrastructure, energy cycling within the system, animals, permaculture ethics, earthworks, natural building, aqua and hydroponics, herbal remedies, community building and more.
Dates and Duration:
The course runs for eight (8) days total, however, it will be split into two (4) day sessions. The first session will be held Friday, June 23, 2023 – Monday, June 26, 2023. The second session will be held Friday, July 28, 2023 – Monday, July 31, 2023. Class will run from 8am-4pm each day, with two evenings of additional activities. Dinner will be provided on the two extra evenings. In order to receive the 72-hour certification, participants must attend all 8 days. Students will be responsible for their own accommodations and transportation to and from the course.
Course Fee:
$750 (includes course content, certification and all lunches + two dinners). Applicants will be notified of acceptance on a rolling basis. Partial scholarships are available. A partial tuition payment will be due within thirty (30) days of acceptance notification to hold a spot in the course.
New for 2023 – the Oak Spring Garden Foundation is excited to announce two (2) full scholarships open to Fauquier County Public School Educators. If applying as an FCPS educator, please indicate so on the Submittable application. All scholarship applicants will be notified of the award decision before March 30, 2023.
