The Montgomery County (MD) government launched a newly created Office of Food Systems Resilience (OFSR) in 2022 to develop and maintain a strategy for improving the efficiency, equity, sustainability, and resilience of the food system in Montgomery County.
The OFSR is currently seeking candidates through Athena Consulting for two full-time contract staffing positions to support OFSR initiatives, a Communications and Operations Coordinator and a Community Partnerships Coordinator. Core goals for these positions include:
- Engage public and private sector partners to communicate information, provide effective, efficient, and culturally sensitive technical assistance and support in accessing and administering resources;
- Solicit insight and feedback to inform County policies and programs;
- Collaborate with a wide range of food system partners including food assistance providers, farms and food businesses, government agencies, social services organizations, community advocacy and philanthropic organizations, residents, and more to equitably and effectively implement and maintain new strategies, as well as enhance existing structures.
Positions have a start date of September 2024 and a projected end date of June 2025 with the possibility of extension contingent on available funds. These positions pay $28.00 per hour and are hybrid roles requiring two days per week in-person at a Rockville, Maryland location. (This may change based on performance or OFSR needs).
